Emily Stengel Deputy Director and Co-Founder Emily leads and supports GreenWave programming and operations, overseeing internal operations, implementation of programming, and fundraising strategy and execution. She brings to GreenWave a background in sustainable food systems, working for several years at a B-Corp catering company in NYC dedicated to supporting the regional farm and food economy.

Kendall Barbery Programs Manager Kendall supports GreenWave programming and operations, including the farm startup and apprentice program, kelp nursery, and research and development. She brings to GreenWave a background in commercial salmon fishing, small-scale organic farming, green infrastructure development, and sustainable design/build. Kendall holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from James Madison University and a Master of Environmental Science from the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies. She is starting her own restorative ocean farm in coastal Connecticut.

She is passionate about sustainable aquaculture and hopes to continue her research in Long Island Sound and the Gulf of Maine. 

Karen Gray CA Advisor Karen has worked in coastal regulation and policy since 2011, both as a coastal planner and analyst with the California Coastal Commission, and as a consultant in the private sector supporting a diversity of projects that require coastal permits. She is a marine scientist with a Master’s degree in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Serving as an ocean ambassador, scientific research diver, and seaweed aficionado, Karen is committed to restoring healthy oceans and promoting solutions that benefit both people and planet.
